Double your impact with a donation now to protect the Arctic. Here’s how
Donate now to double your contribution to protect a healthy future for the Arctic as a generous anonymous donor will match your gift and others (to a maximum of $137,000). Donations must be made by March 31, 2016 to qualify.
Your donation will help WWF work with Inuit organizations and the Canadian government to secure a network of marine protected areas for Lancaster Sound in the eastern Arctic and Darnley Bay in the Beaufort Sea.
Species such as polar bears, whales and birds thrive in these areas, and protecting them is an important first step to secure an Arctic home for the animals and the health and economic sustainability of the people there.
But disappearing sea ice associated with climate change threatens the long-term survival of the species and well-being of the people who call this region home. In addition to habitat loss, there is increasing habitat disturbance due to the new industrial developments drawn by an ice-free Arctic.
Visit the WWF-Canada blog for the next two months for stories about Canada’s Arctic and the species and people who live there.
