A world without nature

Have you ever wondered what a #WorldWithoutNature would look like?

It would be incomplete, just like our logo today.

This World Wildlife Day (March 3), WWF has removed the panda from our iconic logo to highlight how much we stand to lose if we don’t take urgent action to safeguard nature and wildlife.

Nature is part of every aspect of our life, and we’re losing it.

Globally, wildlife populations have declined an average of 68 per cent in less than half a century (1970-2016). Canadian wildlife isn’t faring much better. Our Living Planet Report Canada found that populations of nationally at-risk species declined by 59 percent, on average, from 1970-2016. And species of global concern declined in Canada by 42 per cent, meaning wildlife loss in Canada is fueling global losses.

There’s more at stake than our logo if we lose nature.

Canada, as a whole, is not doing enough to protect its most imperiled species. Nature-based solutions — like protected areas and restoration of degraded ecosystems — can help to stop wildlife loss by addressing threats to biodiversity while reducing climate change by storing carbon. Join us in avoiding a world without wildlife.
