HOW PHILANTHROPIC LEADERS ARE SHAPING THEIR IMPACT WITH WWF-CANADA

RUDI BLATTER, with his family, established the Karine Blatter Arctic Fund at WWF-Canada, a transformational gift supporting community-led polar bear conservation efforts in the North.

“Growing up in the Grisons, a nature-immersed part of Switzerland, I connected to the outdoors daily. Contributing to the conservation of nature’s incredible assets has been a lifelong ambition. My family’s move to Canada over 25 years ago allowed us to see breathtaking beauty everywhere, and this convinced us that it takes firm action and determination to maintain nature’s integrity. A trip to Churchill in 2013 demonstrated what is needed in the North, including a greater understanding of the symbiotic integration of wildlife, Indigenous communities, climate change action and economic development. This is a fascinating challenge and one that my family is proud to be a part of.”

JESSICA PATHY AND MARK PATHY, supporting WWF-Canada since 2021. Jess Pathy joined WWF-Canada’s Board of Directors.

“There is no issue more critical than the environment. We appreciate being part of the global effort through WWF to not only preserve what nature we have left, but to mitigate the damage we’ve already done. Protecting our unique planet and the life that it sustains, including our own, is of utmost importance.”

ROHIT AND CHRISTINA SHARMA, Patrick and Barbara Keenan Foundation

“Although nature tries to take care of itself, it needs help. As the threats of global warming continue to increase, it is our duty to try to make the Earth a better place for future generations. WWF-Canada’s work is important from both an educational and conservation perspective. We need a voice to constantly encourage our governments and public to do more to protect the environment. The Patrick and Barbara Keenan Foundation believes that by supporting WWF-Canada in its various projects, we are contributing to preservation of nature and the environment.”

THE RONALD S. ROADBURG FOUNDATION, supporting Indigenous-led restoration efforts in B.C. since 2023

“Our Foundation is rooted in a strong sense of community and committed to fostering transformational change. Addressing the climate emergency is one of our strategic priorities and we are particularly interested in protecting and preserving the province of B.C. and its vital natural resources. Our partnership with WWF-Canada enables us to support the advancement of Indigenous knowledge systems and approaches to forest and wetlands restoration. Through this we are living our commitment to Tikkun Olam (the Jewish principle of repairing the world).”
