Event Overview

WWF-Canada is inviting select restoration practitioners, Indigenous representatives, researchers, government representatives, and partner organizations for an in-person day and a half of knowledge exchange, strategic reflection, and collaboration.

This event provides a platform for sharing key learnings, challenges, and opportunities in large scale nature restoration efforts across the country, while also strengthening connections and co-designing the future of Canada’s restoration network.

Date: October 29–30, 2025 (Full day on Oct. 29 and half-day on Oct. 30)
Location: Ottawa Marriott Hotel
Cost: The forum is free of charge and limited to invited participants

This participatory forum will offer a space for dialogue, reflection and strategic alignment in support of ecosystem restoration efforts across the country.

Forum purpose

The Nature Restoration Forum: Rebuilding Canada is designed to:

  • Share key learnings, challenges and opportunities in restoration.
  • Strengthen connections across regions and sectors.
  • Foster collaboration and peer learning.
  • Co-design a future restoration network that enables knowledge exchange and capacity; building through the Mission Restoration program.
  • Conduct a collective pulse check on Canada’s restoration landscape.

Who will be in the room

The forum will bring together participants representing four key groups:

  • Emerging practitioners: Organizations or individuals looking to start restoration initiatives and explore best practices for engaging in ecosystem recovery.
  • Active restoration groups: Organizations already implementing on-the-ground restoration efforts across Canada.
  • Sustainers and stewards: Groups or individuals focused on monitoring, impact assessment and supporting long-term sustainability and viability of restoration work.
  • Policy and research groups: Academics and government representatives advancing restoration research, frameworks and strategic implementation.

Getting these voices together is intended to encourage cross-pollination of ideas and experiences across the sector.

What we hope to achieve

  • A shared understanding of the current state of restoration in Canada.
  • Stronger relationships across communities, sectors and regions.
  • Actionable insights to guide future collaboration.
  • A co-designed foundation for an evolving and inclusive restoration network in Canada.
