You helped make our CN Tower climb a success

At the crack of dawn on a dreary Saturday morning, thousands of huge-hearted participants gathered at the CN Tower and prepared themselves to climb the 1776 stairs of North America’s largest freestanding building.  The weather was cold but the atmosphere was warm, and I was glad to have the opportunity to meet so many extraordinary people, some of whom were mentioned in previous blog posts.  Here’s how they fared on Saturday morning:
Shelley Ann Morris – Sporting an incredible attitude and outstanding determination, Shelly Ann Morris celebrated her 49th birthday by climbing the CN Tower to support WWF.  Shelley was particularly happy about receiving media coverage because, she explains, “I am sincerely hoping that through telling my little story I might motivate more blind individuals to take up the challenge – to say nothing of us approaching 50.” Way to go, Shelley – you are truly an inspiration.

Malcolm and Jennifer Ryan – This mother and son team graced the CN Tower with their presence not once but twice this weekend – Thursday, as part of an awesome team of volunteers and Saturday, to earn impressive times climbing the tower.   Both Malcolm and Jennifer were able to beat their times from last year, and Malcolm – in seven days – was able to surpass his fundraising goal and raise $1,500 for WWF-Canada.
Toronto Fire – The Toronto Fire Services Recruit Class did some amazing fundraising and were able to raise over $1,800 for WWF!  According to the team’s captain, Colin Jenkins, “many of our teammates are already making plans for next years climb, saying that they want to better their times. This may become an annual event for this Recruit Class.”
And as for the friendly competition between the Toronto Firefighters and the Barrie Firefighters? Let’s just call it a tie – completing the climb is enough of an accomplishment on its own.
Tristan Collier  – Last but not least, nine-year-old Tristan Collier successfully raised $3,090 for WWF’s cause.  Ever the superstar, Tristan was featured not only in an article in the Toronto star, but was interviewed by multiple television programs including City TV News and CTV. Tristan was supported by his amazing mom, Rebecca.
Even though the climb is over, you can still donate to any of these awesome climbers.
