WWF response to inaccurate polar bear quote

We recognize that there are disparate findings from scientific surveys and differing perspectives from traditional users, and applaud the efforts of Nunavut management agencies to reconcile these strands of information to make responsible decisions.  The fact remains that the Polar Bear has been identified as a species of special concern in Canada, and climate change – not hunting – remains the most significant factor putting polar bears at risk, especially in southern populations.  The threat of climate change to ice dependent species and to traditional Inuit practices has been identified by scientists and Inuit traditional knowledge-holders alike.
