WWF-Canada Volunteer Profile: Kathryn Busch

All the people that volunteer their time with us at WWF-Canada make so many things possible – from small (like envelope stuffing) to large (like event organization and execution). Many of the things we do at WWF-Canada would not be possible without them and we love them to bits.
Kathryn Busch is a prime example of an outstanding volunteer. She started out by helping to operate a freshwater booth at Ontario Place and has since been involved in numerous WWF-Canada initiatives including the CN Tower Climb, the Shoreline Cleanup and has performed a variety of administrative tasks within the office. We chatted with her to hear more about her background and get some insight about volunteering at WWF.

Why do you volunteer with WWF-Canada?
I like to keep busy. I like the work that the WWF does and I think it’s valuable to get experience in the environmental sector. Hopefully one day it will lead to a job in the sector as well.
*Note: She certainly does keep busy! Kathryn is a part-time student, is a part-time volunteer and has a part-time job!
What is your favourite aspect of being a volunteer?
I love just being in the office and getting to meet the staff and visitors. By working at the front desk, I have met a lot of knowledgeable people and have learned a lot. I pick things up here and there and can apply them to other areas of my life.
You’re volunteering at the CN Tower Climb next weekend in Toronto. Why do you think people should participate in the climb?
I won’t actually be climbing because I will be helping participants get registered but I think it looks like a lot of fun. It’s challenging and rewarding and it’s for a great cause.

Be sure to stop by and visit Kathryn at the registration booth at the CN Tower Climb. Not registered to climb? Visit wwf.ca/CNtower and sign up. See you there!
