These corporate stars scaled new heights for nature

With a collective 9,590,400 steps taken and a whopping $1.56 million (and counting) raised for conservation, the WWF CN Tower Climb for Nature, presented by Aviso, broke records on April 5 and 6, 2025!

Thousands of climbers took the stairs up one of the world’s tallest free-standing structures — not just for the thrill of the climb, but to support WWF-Canada’s vital work to restore habitat, reverse wildlife loss, and fight climate change. Among them? Our incredible corporate climbers who brought heart, hustle, and a whole lot of team spirit.

Let’s give a standing ovation (on very sore legs) to a few of these 187 powerhouse teams who raised over $386,000 and made the climb unforgettable:

Aviso not only came on board as national presenting sponsor for the WWF Climb for Nature—our largest-ever sponsor for the event—they also built teams to climb in Toronto, Vancouver and Montreal. It was inspiring to see their spirited climbers arrive bright and early at the CN Tower with so much energy and enthusiasm.

“My last climb was 20 years ago. I forgot how much work it was coming up the stairs,” said Mark Nicholson, Senior VP of Client Experience, Marketing and Communications at Aviso, after his ascent. “At Aviso, we’re in the business of wealth management and investing services, but believe that a healthy planet is essential for healthy employees and a thriving economy. We feel that financial well-being and a healthy planet go hand-in-hand.”

TD Insurance – triple crown champs

TD Insurance didn’t just show up — they levelled up. For the third year in a row, TD took the title of top fundraising team at $33,354 (and counting) while also claiming the honour of the largest climb team with 195 members. This achievement is the first in the Climb for Natures 33-year history.

How do they do it? “We’ve had hundreds of people join the Team over the years, and everyone who does it wants to come back. My advice to climbers is to pace yourself and start fundraising early,” explained Scott Kirby, Manager of Sustainability Enablement and Engagement at TD Insurance, and the driving force behind TD Insurance’s success at the Climb.

Not just climbers, but year-round champions for conservation, Aviva are true eco allies. From educational webinars to tree plantings, their team shows up year-round and their participation in all three climbs — CN Tower, BC Place Climb and Anywhere Climb — is just one more way they’re living out their commitment to nature and wildlife. “The best part of the whole experience was sharing it with friends and colleagues and saying that I took part in a good cause,” said Douglas Chau, Actuarial Manager at Aviva.

Holt Renfrew – leading the industry for a positive change

Bold, steadfast and every-ready to beat their personal best — three phrases that neatly summarize how Holt Renfrew approaches their commitment to a better future. The retail giant backs up its sustainability goals with the full force of their national network and their participation in all three Climbs is no exception.

“Team Holts was energized and motivated to take on the Climb for Nature. At its core, sustainability is about preserving the planet so future generations can thrive. The climb isn’t just a personal challenge, it’s a powerful opportunity for businesses to actively invest in sustainability and demonstrate real commitment to protecting our shared future,” said Erica Campbell, Specialist, Sustainability and Social Impact at Holt Renfrew.

Bullfrog Power – back and better than ever

After over a decade of partnership, Bullfrog made a triumphant return to the WWF Climb for Nature both as a sponsor and as a team. A long-time supporter of biodiversity initiatives and proud partner of WWF-Canada since 2005, Bullfrog has supported flagship events such as Earth Hour and our immersive experience at Arcadia Earth. Their motivation to fight wildlife loss and climate change with habitat-friendly renewable energy powered their team up those 1,776 steps.

BGIS – the Climb veterans

Having participated since 2014, BGIS has been a steady force in our Climb for Nature community. Earning the top fundraising title in 2017 and 2018, they’ve raised more than $100,000 for conservation over the past decade. Talk about building a legacy one step at a time.

Shout-out to our amazing teams from FedEx, P&G, and Toyota — you brought grit, smiles and serious stair stamina. Your continued support is helping protect incredible Canadian wildlife and ecosystems. See you next year!

West Coast – you’re up next!

Our BC Place Climb for Nature is coming up on May 10, and we’re calling on all our west coast corporate teams to register and show the same love, strength and spirit while showing up those Toronto teams!

From the top of the tower to the bottom of our hearts, thank you to every climber, sponsor, donor, and cheerleader who made this year’s climb one for the books. Nature needs you — and clearly, nothing can stop you from helping.

See you on the stairs again soon!
