Tell Me Tuesday: What’s your Polar Bear?
I dote on my dogs (as you may have noticed), am thrilled by tigers, awed by whales, electrified by elephants. I may not want to make direct contact with insects, but I think they’re pretty cool too.
So the fact that, in just over a week, I get to go up to Churchill, Manitoba, the world’s Polar Bear capital, and visit the bears, is just about the most exciting thing that has ever happened to me!

It’s another reminder of how much I love this job. Not only do I get to work with our amazing Arctic team and learn about Polar Bears from experts, I get to actually see them up close. Even though some two-thirds of the world’s Polar Bears live in Canada, this is something few of us get to experience.
This opportunity is particularly exciting for me because, as I’ve learned more and more about polar bears, I’ve become increasingly impressed with them. The fact that they can live and thrive in such a challenging environment is remarkable. At the moment, I can’t think of another animal that I’d be more delighted to see in the wild.
So I was wondering: what species would you most like to see in its natural habitat?
