Tell Me Tuesday: Can Halloween be less scary for the planet?

All those individually wrapped candies, single use costumes, extra packaging…I shudder just to think of it.  I want to make sure I’m treating the planet right, so I’m going to try to make my Halloween a bit less wasteful.
Step one: reuse my dogs’ Halloween costumes.  (Yes, I’m one of those people – I dress up my dogs.  I confess.  I know it’s weird, but it’s just too funny not to do, and they don’t really seem to mind.  Really!)  Since I don’t dress up myself (hypocritical, I know), that takes care of the costumes.

Step two:  I’m really not sure what else I can do!  A quick search, however, took me to a helpful resource – a YummyMummyClub.ca post, How to Have an Eco Friendly Halloween, which has lots of useful tips.
Step three: ask all my TMT friends – what are you doing to make your Halloween one that’s not so scary for the planet?  Please let me know!
Last TMT: our fabulous friends shared all kinds of great “little things” they’re doing to help the planet.  From actually raising monarch caterpillars, like Sherry, to “buying less and less”, like Denise, there are clearly tons of great ways to make a difference every day!  As always, thanks so much for sharing and please keep up the amazing work!
