On June 8, let’s celebrate World Oceans Day!

The Vancouver Aquarium, WWF-Canada and SeaChoice are teaming up to celebrate World Oceans Day on June 8, 2012 with a series of activities for the whole family. Come and learn about our oceans and how you can help protect them.

Schedule of Events
8 a.m. Beluga and Yoga Session / Canada’s Arctic Gallery, Vancouver Aquarium
Start your day with a beluga-inspired yoga session led by yogi, ocean lover, and blissologist, Eoin Finn. Global hip-hop and organic beats performed by DJ Tspoon (Delhi 2 Dublin), Rupinder Sidhu (Banyen Roots), and Ndidi Cascade. Post yoga session breakfast will be offered by Choices markets. Tickets are $50 and can be purchased here. All funds directly support Vancouver Aquarium’s Ocean Wise program as well as SeaChoice.
11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Short presentations and hands-on activities / Canada’s Arctic Gallery, Vancouver Aquarium
Short presentations and hands-on activities with Aquarium and WWF staff every 30 minutes based on the day’s theme: “Five things you can do to protect our oceans.”

12:00 p.m. What’s the catch… with sustainable seafood
12:30 p.m. Hide and seek: The importance of eelgrass to ocean habitats

1:30 p.m. What’s the catch… with sustainable seafood
2:00 p.m. Keep it Clean: Why shoreline cleanups are important
2:15 p.m. Celebration cake

And because a celebration isn’t complete without a cake, join us for World Oceans Day cake at 2:15 p.m.!
6:30 p.m. reception; 7 p.m. dinner – YEW Restaurant at Four Seasons Vancouver
Join critically acclaimed YEW restaurant at Four Seasons Vancouver and the Vancouver Aquarium’s Ocean Wise program for a sumptuous ocean-friendly dinner. Executive Chef Ned Bell will feature Ocean Wise menu selections – paired with premium wines – that are inspired by the oceans of the world: Arctic, Indian, Pacific, Atlantic, and Southern.
