I love my “cliché” job, do you?

Despite this topsy-turvy career path, what has always remained constant and foremost is feeling a sense of greater purpose, knowing that I am helping to make the world a better place.  I realize it all sounds so cliché but I’ll bet many of you feel the same way!
At WWF, not only do I get to contribute to the efforts of one the world’s leading conservation organizations, my job is entirely dedicated to providing the guidance, tools and support to help Canadians do the same: to make a difference at work in support of WWF and conservation.
Last month, we officially launched the Living Planet @ Work program.  In a few short weeks, we already have over 70 companies signed up and counting!  These organizations are represented by “ordinary” people like you and I – ordinary in that we share a common hope for our future and the future of the planet, but extra-ordinary in that we are influencing, in each of our daily lives, a shift in how workplace decisions and actions contribute to the conservation of the planet.

Many of these green champions stumbled upon this work much like I did, motivated by a desire to be a part of something bigger.    And now they are leading initiatives like coordinating employee activities for Earth Hour, changing lighting schedules to reduce electricity waste, and organizing fundraising events for WWF.  It all adds up and is helping to create a ripple effect across corporate Canada.
If you want to inspire change at work and beyond (and I know you do!), Living Planet @ Work is just what you need!   Our program goals, by 2014, are to sign up 500 companies, engage 100,000 employees on our campaigns and raise $1 million for conservation through workplace giving.
Join me – at work – in helping WWF tackle the greatest conservation challenges of our generation.
Let’s be the truth behind the cliché.
