Animal lover thinks social enterprise should be the only enterprise

By Deepak Verma, an animal lover who thinks social enterprise should be the only enterprise.
WWF-Canada supporter Deepak Verma has come up with a partnership that we love. For every $50 gift card purchased from Ethical Ocean (a Canadian based organization providing a marketplace of ethically made products) a $10 donation will be made to WWF-Canada. Their goal is to raise $500 for WWF and the campaign ends July 15th.
“The core motivation behind this campaign is that as consumers our buying decisions should align with our social values at every opportunity. The more we align our wallets to businesses that source their goods through ethical practices the more all businesses will be forced to re-evaluate their business operations.

This campaign was designed to promote this exact principle. Ethical Ocean is an online marketplace of ethically sourced products. Buyer’s on this site can select what causes they feel most passionate about and purchase products that help support those causes. The causes could be for human rights, environmental issues, or animal protection. Thanks to the technology provided by FlipGive, supporters of this campaign will not only align their purchases with their social values, but they will also help raise funds for the great work WWF is doing around the world.
I selected WWF-Canada as my charitable beneficiary because I have been a long-time supporter of all the great work the organization is doing to help protect the habitats of endangered animals around the world. Habitat protection is of particular importance to me. We share this planet with hundreds of millions of incredible species, all of which deserve to live out their life in peace and in their natural habitat. Unfortunately due to growing demands of specific products, businesses focused only on profits, and a growing population requiring taking up even more of the planet’s natural resources these beautiful species are the innocent bystanders left suffering with a growing number facing extinction.
I love this campaign because it’s not designed to request donations. Instead it is designed to align purchases with social good from many angles. An Ethical Ocean gift is a great option for anyone looking to purchase a gift. It not only communicates your social values, and creative ways to support our planet but it also helps connect our day to day activities with social good and spread the word that we as consumers ultimately have the power to cause social change if we want to.”
