Your Opinion Please… WWF is now targeting bags and then food. What should WWF act on next?
Short on ideas? Here is some info on the impacts of a few planet-friendly actions…
- Washing all your laundry in cold water. If a million Canadians did it, the environment would feel as if 11,100 cars had been taken off the road (ie. 52,800 tonnes of avoided carbon dioxide emissions).
- Start composting, either through curb-side programs or in your very own back-yard. If a million Canadians did it, we’d feel the benefit as if 14,700 cars were taken off the road (ie. 70,000 tonnes of avoided carbon dioxide emissions) AND we’d generate less waste to landfill, not to mention the benefits to our soil.
- Install a programmable thermostat. If a million Canadians did it, we’d save 122,400 tonnes of carbon from our skies, like taking 25,800 cars off the road.
- Reduce idling. If a million Canadians did it, we’d feel the benefit as if taking 8,500 cars off the road (ie. 40,400 tonnes of avoided carbon dioxide emissions), not to mention better local air quality.
