WWF hosts a 24 Hour Tweet-up for the planet
Through-out the day, WWF staff from around the globe will post updates on Twitter to give our online global audience a sense of the work that WWF is doing on a daily basis to save the planet – be it in the field working with communities on endangered species, at a conference helping negotiate solutions, in a meeting room with industry leaders, or behind a desk developing the tools to support our work. WWF is also encouraging people to join in by tweeting about why they care about the planet or what they are doing to help. To join, Twitter posts just need to be tagged with the hastag #wwf24.
More than 60 WWF staff members from 35 different countries will be participating including: Jim Leape, WWF International’s CEO, posting updates from the UN Conference in New York City. Sarah Brooks will tweet about her work to save threatened wetlands in Vietnam. From Kenya, Kimunya Mugo will update on the work he is doing to address environmental issues in eastern Africa. And from somewhere along the Northeast Passage, Geoff York will be posting updates from an expedition to observe the impacts of climate change in the Arctic.
Here in Canada, Dr. Robert Rangeley, Oceans and Fisheries expert, will be posting from an International fisheries conference in Norway where the fate of Canada’s cod hangs in the balance.; Keith Stewart, Climate Change Director, will be tweeting about his ongoing pursuit of finding climate solutions, and Tara Wood, Media Manager, will be posting from Toronto –updating on the day-to-day hustle and bustle of keeping Canadians informed about WWF’s work and how they can help.
Around the world on any given day, millions of people take actions – big and small – that contribute to making their community and their world a more sustainable place to live. 24 Hours gives us a short glimpse of some of those people. Find out more at www.panda.org/24hours.
