WWF-Canada’s 19th Annual Canada Life CN Tower Climb: Step up to help protect Canada’s polar bears

The Arctic is warming faster than anywhere else on the planet, threatening the survival of the iconic polar bear and entire Arctic communities and ecosystems. By participating in WWF-Canada’s biggest fundraising event, Canadians are taking a stand against climate change.

The climb is a fun, challenging event and it doesn’t take as long to climb as you might think! The average climb time is approximately 25 minutes and people of every age and fitness level participate. Last year, ages ranged from seven to seventy! With both a team challenge and public climb, there is something for everyone.

The team challenge is for teams of 4-7 and will take place on Thursday, April 16 from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. This is a great opportunity for colleagues or fitness buddies to challenge each other with some friendly competition. The public climb is on Saturday, April 18 from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. Participants are encouraged to bring family and friends or come alone and set a new personal best time. It’s a great way to have fun with thousands of other Canadians who are passionate about helping our planet and testing their fitness.

More than 6,000 people are expected to tackle the Tower this year and prove how much they care about our planet. Climbers will compete for prizes awarded to the fastest individual male, female and co-ed team as well as top fundraisers.

Climbing isn’t the only way to make a difference! Sponsor a friend, colleague or WWF-Canada’s team and help WWF-Canada reach its fundraising target of $1.3 million.

Last year, the climb raised more than $1 million and helped WWF-Canada mobilize industry and individuals to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through programs such as Climate Savers, Earth Hour, The Good Life, and the Polar Bear Tracker.
