WWF-Canada Available for Comment at Cancun Climate Conference

(Toronto: November 29, 2010): WWF-Canada’s Zoë Caron, Climate Policy & Advocacy Specialist will be joining international delegates in Cancun, Mexico from November 29 to December 10, for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Kyoto Protocol and will be available for media comment before and during the convention.

Zoë can address a number of issues key to the convention, including:
• Canada’s role and leadership
• What can be accomplished
• WWF’s recommended actions
• The science of climate change
• Solutions to climate change

As an expert on climate change, Zoe has attended various United Nations conferences and all G8 and G20 ministerial meetings and summits involving energy and climate change over the past five years.

Zoë is the co-author of Global Warming for Dummies, editor of International Policy on ItsGettingHotInHere.org, and is the President of the Board of Directors for Sierra Club Canada.

Prior to joining WWF-Canada, she worked as a research associate with the Eco-Efficiency Centre at Dalhousie University coordinating the provincial renewable energy stakeholder consultation project in Nova Scotia. She has also worked with non-profit companies and organizations on sustainability, education and social mobilization.

Zoë’s academic background is in international development and environmental science. She has attended multiple United Nations Climate Change Conferences, co-founded the Canadian Youth Climate Coalition, and was aboard Students On Ice Expeditions to Antarctica and the Arctic. She has appeared in both Vanity Fair and ELLE for her work on climate change.
