Tundra Buggy Lodge

Today the students got into groups of 4 to start tackling topics like the drastic changes in the global climate, the effects on wildlife and indigenous communities, and the multiples stresses we are putting on planet Earth – not small or light topics that’s for sure! These presentations and discussions will become the foundation to help arm the students with the information they need after camp is finished and they are unleashed on the world to educate their peers on the issues surrounding the Arctic ecosystem and animals like the polar bear. This is an amazing group of young people and it fills me with more much hope then I can express when I hear how much they care and are ready to do.

And, of course, the day would NOT have been complete without further bear sightings. We were again fortunate to see the female with her two cubs and observed them for over an hour. Throw in an Arctic fox (to my absolute pleasure since I didn’t see one the last time I was here!), a bald eagle, more ptarmigans, a couple of Arctic hares and some common goldeneye ducks and you have a picture of our fabulous wildlife viewing day!
