Stars Help World Wildlife Fund Canada Save Animals in TV Special

Hosted by Bacon, the hour-long program also features: Enrico Colantoni, Shirley Jones, Eugene Levy, Rue McLanahan, Rhea Perlman, James Reynolds, Ann Rohmer, Marion Ross and Alan Thicke.

These television personalities share a concern for wildlife and conservation with many Canadians, including the more than 55,000 WWF supporters from coast to coast to coast. Audiences will see Shelly Long moved to tears when spotting whales on the open sea. In post September 11th New York, Kevin Bacon reconfigured his tight schedule to be able to participate in the special. Betty White is a Commissioner for the Los Angeles Zoo and a devoted conservationist.

But the real stars are the animals, many of which are fighting for their lives: right whales, struck by boats and drowned in fishing nets; polar bears in western Hudson Bay, threatened by climate change; and Siberian tigers, hunted for their skins; to name just a few.

Shot in Cuba, Los Angeles, New York, Toronto, the Bay of Fundy and north of Algonquin Park, Countdown to Extinction highlights the work of World Wildlife Fund Canada in protecting wildlife and the habitats they depend on. The special hopes to raise $4-million in donations to support WWF-Canada. WWF-Canada is grateful to Swiss Herbal Remedies Ltd., for matching donations made during the program.
