Specialist, Social Video
Position Description
The Specialist, Social Video is a high-energy, organized and creative professional responsible for the creation of all videos used in WWF-Canada social media channels and other platforms under the direction of the Manager, Social Media. The primary focus of this role will be to increase the volume and impact of videos, mainly for WWF-Canada’s social media channels, in order to help WWF-Canada achieve its conservation goals and grow support for WWF-Canada’s work across Canada.
This role will be responsible for all aspects of video production, including conception, acquiring footage (shooting video occasionally), managing freelancers and vendors, writing, producing and editing. A high level of creative thinking, self-motivation and strong collaborative working skills are required.
As the ideal candidate, you create compelling videos about relevant timely stories for WWF-Canada developments, events, campaigns, appeals and more. You are comfortable working with an experienced and fast-paced team, taking on significant responsibilities and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. You appreciate and learn from digital trends and best practices.
Key Responsibilities

Identify opportunities and create video concepts to advance communications objectives and support fundraising initiatives, including narrative, voiceover/commentary scripts and storyboards.

Manage end-to-end video production including: sourcing, filming, editing, animations, motion graphics and production.

Take raw ideas from various stakeholders and sources and create the direction and vision for the resulting video.

Work within brand guidelines and voice, while bringing new vision and creativity to the organization.

Vet, hire and manage freelancers for field shoots and production as needed.

Apply best practices and experimentation to drive and increase video viewership and conversion.

Keep up-to-date on conservation-related news items.

Manage visual digital assets, including rights management and intake of assets from WWF staff in the field and WWF partners.

Edit and sometimes take photographs.

Stay abreast of and implement new trends in video/motion graphics content and technology.

Identify and lead technical details involved in content creation, content management, content delivery and analytics.
What We Are Looking For:
-
Demonstrated ability to clearly and compellingly convey complex ideas through visual media to engage a general audience on social media.

Experience in and commitment to measuring and increasing engagement per video and channel-wide.

Strong understanding of successful social videos.

3+ years of work experience in video production, including conceiving, creating and managing compelling factual videos that engage audiences and tell a story.

Extensive experience sourcing video, sound and still photography from third party sources (wires, agencies, individuals, Creative Commons, etc.).

High level of proficiency with Premiere Pro/Final Cut Pro and Adobe Creative Suite tools or other equivalent tools, including motion graphics

Extensive experience hiring and managing freelance visual professionals (photographers, videographers, editors, producers, animators, etc.) and working with them within budget.

Demonstrated ability to work well as an independently responsible creator in a highly collaborative environment.

Strong mediation and negotiation skills with the ability to resolve difficult situations while demonstrating tact and diplomacy.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a timely manner.

Experience with storage and retrieval databases for video and still photography and ability to keep files well-organized, well-described and accessible.

Strong understanding of copyright and usage-rights issues for visuals.

Freelance network of cinematographers, photographers, and production contacts is an asset.
-
English/French bilingual is an asset.
