Position Description
WWF-Canada is seeking a dynamic individual that will be responsible for writing, editing or otherwise generating and finalizing all WWF-Canada public-facing communications aimed to convince individuals and groups to donate, fundraise, make purchases, share their contact information and attend fundraising and supporter events.
We seek a communications specialist with strong skills in writing, editing and image selection for print and digital communications, as well as the ability to generate and execute positive earned media opportunities that advance fundraising aims.
The right candidate is experienced in crafting and editing words and art to synthesize complex information into compelling narratives that provoke donations on various platforms from differing audiences. A background in fundraising and event communications is essential, preferably in science, politics or academics. Competence in project management would be beneficial.
As a key member of our national communications and media team, you will work closely with colleagues responsible for direct-mail campaigns, email marketing, webpages, e-commerce, events and social media.
Major Responsibilities:
- Identify opportunities and develop and lead the execution of communication strategies, plans and activities in support of WWF-Canada’s fundraising activities, leveraging a range of mediums (stories, photos, videos, infographics, etc.) and channels (bulk email, web, print, traditional media, social media, etc.)
- Provide writing, editing and project management capacity and support to priority fundraising initiatives.
- Strategically identify and target audiences, cultivating relationships with key communications influencers (journalists, bloggers, social influences, etc.).
- Provide expertise to fundraising staff and act as a liaison for initiatives requiring conservation communications input.
- Enhance the WWF-Canada image and brand.
What We’re Looking For:
- At least five years of experience crafting and shaping fundraising or consumer sales communications materials and provoking earned media.
- Adept at identifying and applying evidence-based techniques to improve communication success.
- Excellent writing, editing and grammar skills, plus experience applying consistent style.
- Post-secondary qualifications, preferably in the area of fundraising, marketing, sales or public relations communications.
- Proven ability to work within a collaborative cross-team environment.
- Strong project coordination background with track record of managing multiple projects within given timelines and in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Target and success-driven.
- Bilingual in English and French an asset.
Other Information
This role will be based out of our Toronto office located at 410 Adelaide Street West and will require out of hours work as needed.
