Public Mobilization Outreach Volunteer

WWF-Canada is seeking a dynamic volunteer with a passion for details and a passion for the environment. This position is for an energized individual who thrives in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment, and who are looking for a great volunteer opportunity to become a member of the marketing team supporting two key public mobilization campaigns: National Sweater Day and Earth Hour.

Public mobilization is WWF-Canada’s long term approach to engage Canadians in meaningful actions that reduce their footprint, as well as to leverage public support for work on conservation science and to build a community of involved Canadians online and offline. WWF-Canada aims to strike a balance between encouraging individual behaviour change, and encourage public support for broad policy and structural change.

National Sweater Day
is WWF-Canada’s newest campaign to inspire Canadians to make personal behaviour changes to reduce their carbon footprint. Sweater Day calls on Canadians to turn their thermostats down for the day and wear a sweater to symbolize their commitment to the environment. Sweater Day takes place on Thursday, February 9th, 2012.

Earth Hour
is a global WWF climate change initiative. Individuals, businesses, governments and communities are invited to turn out their lights for one hour to symbolize their support for government and social action on climate change. Earth Hour takes place on Saturday, March 31st, 2012 from 8:30 – 9:30 pm.
