Public Engagement Volunteer – Inspiration Village, Ottawa

Position Description:

WWF-Canada is looking for friendly, outgoing and enthusiastic volunteers (bilingual French/English preferred) to help us staff our booth in Inspiration Village (located on York Street in Ottawa’s historic ByWard Market). The Public Engagement Volunteers will represent WWF to the thousands of Ottawa tourists and locals who will visit Inspiration Village, Ottawa 2017’s longest running Canada 150 event.  You’ll be an ambassador for the world’s largest conservation charity; engaging with the public in English and French.  The goal is to encourage visitors to sign up to do something meaningful for nature through WWF-Canada’s Count for Nature program.

Other duties include:
Opening and closing the WWF-Canada booth at the beginning and ending of each day, ensure the exhibit space is clean and tidy. Assist with Panda mascot visits and photo ops as required.

Available Shifts:

  • 11:00am – 3:00pm
  • 2:00pm – 6:00pm
  • 4:00pm – 8:00pm

Important Dates
While our booth will be open 7 days a week between May 20 – September 4, we have identified the following dates as “priority days” where volunteer support is paramount:

  • Victoria Day Weekend (May 20 – 22)
  • Canada Day Weekend (June 30 – July 3)
  • Labour Day Weekend (September 2 – 4)

Special Requirements:
Dress for weather to be expected May 20 – Sept. 4. Some WWF branded upper body wear and headgear will be provided. This is an outdoor event.

What We Are Looking For:

  • We strongly prefer volunteers who are bilingual (French and English).  However, we will accept and consider applications from those who are not bilingual.
  • A background in customer service is highly desirable
  • Experience with public speaking preferred.
  • Knowledge of WWF programs highly desireable
