Nature Connected Communities Event Ambassadors

We’re looking for dynamic and motivated volunteers to represent WWF at various tabling and outreach events year-round, both indoors and outdoors. These events will increase public awareness of and engagement in our programs including Living Planet @School/Campus, In the Zone, Shoreline Cleanup, as well as Living Planet @Work. Volunteers will be part of the Nature Connected Communities team, working towards WWF’s goal of fostering a deeper connection with nature for 3.5 million Canadians.
 

Where

Mainly GTHA and southwestern Ontario
 

Event Date

Various dates and times will be available based on training and events in the community. We will ask selected volunteers to submit their monthly availability, and anticipate being scheduled for 1-3 shifts each month.
 

Start Time/End Time

Start and end times will vary pending the selected event that volunteer is assisting with.
 

Available Positions/Duties

– Pick up/drop off display materials at WWF office pre/post event day if needed
– Set up/tear down display materials at event; liaise with event organizers on-the-ground
– Engage general public/event attendees: explain programs, invite to join/sign up, answer general WWF-Canada questions; keep track of outstanding questions/issues and feed back to NCC team
 

Training/Orientation

Full training provided at WWF office in advance, as well as hands-on training at events where WWF staff attend
 

Special Requirements

  • Ability to move sometimes heavy/awkward display equipment/materials
  • Appropriate outdoor attire, as needed

Experience and Skills

  • Excellent verbal skills and comfort level dealing with diverse people
  • Enthusiastic and flexible
  • Conservation/gardening knowledge a plus but not essential.
