My Future, My Climate Postcard Contest

Answer: Ask the kids

They’re the ones, after all, who will inherit the Earth.

If climate change isn’t stopped, it’s our children who will reap its whirlwind. With that unhappy truth in mind, WWF-Canada has created the My Future, My Climate Postcard Contest.

Our contest, which runs from March 23 to April 24, is a way for kids to reflect about Earth Hour—and to ask politicians who make vital decisions on their behalf to do the same.

Open to kids between the ages of 6 to 14 across the country, My Future, My Climate Postcard Contest invites young Canadians to create a postcard addressed to the Prime Minister.  Each submission must include artwork depicting their solution to climate change, a message about their participation in Earth Hour and a personal appeal for action. Following the contest, we’ll hand-deliver the postcards to the House of Commons in Ottawa. It’s meant to be fun, but it’s also a potent call to action.

Canadian children will articulate their understanding of climate change. The best of their submissions will be posted on our website and win prizes. Most importantly, each and every postcard we receive will be delivered by WWF-Canada to Parliament.  That’s how we start making every hour Earth Hour—by taking its message to the place it most needs to be heard.

We hope that we receive a lot of postcards.

Entries will be sorted into three age categories. WWF-Canada will choose ten semi-finalists from each division. Celebrity judges will select finalists who will then move on to the last round, during which Canadians will vote online to decide the grand prize winner in each age category.

If you have kids—if you know kids—get them involved. This is a way for them to take action.   It’s never too soon to learn the art of advocacy.
