Making gifts green and beautiful

Tip #1: Wrap it in something that will get used again.

The classic example for this is those pretty gift bags. Some creative twists on this include tea towels, reusable bags, clothes, baskets, jugs or vases and suitcases.

Tip #2: Find old packaging from things around the house can be reused!

How about putting your gift into an old coffee tin, protein powder tub or tissue box to create a decoy for the recipient! A pretty bow will go a long way and save lots of unnecessary packaging.

Tip #3: Keep a box for all of the wrapping you received so it can be dismantled, cut up or stitched together.

This is where the creativity comes in and the only limitation is your imagination. I have a friend who collects all the embellishments from other presents received and makes a collage of them on the gifts she gives out. It’s an eclectic, funky package that always stands out (especially for donating gifts to charities that give them to families in need).

These wrapping tips will make your holidays more enjoyable as there will be less to clean up, and make the planet happier!
