Intern, Nature Connected Communities

Position Description

The Intern, Nature Connected Communities (NCC) will provide essential program and event support to NCC by assisting with research, program implementation, outreach planning and execution, as well as event planning and event day support. This role will help to ensure the realization of objectives and goals in the NCC program, connected to high-impact conservation goals consistent with WWF-Canada’s strategic priorities. 
 

Key Responsibilities

The Intern will work with and support the Living Planet @ Campus and Living Planet @ School programs.  This includes:
Developing, planning and organizing outreach strategies to promote programs that address plastic waste on university and college campuses; liaising with campus partners and supporting student engagement tactics 
Representing Living Planet @ Campus and Living Planet @ School knowledgeably at external outreach events
Working closely alongside NCC staff and other conservation team members to develop and implement at least three conservation content specific modules for Living Planet @ Campus that promote actions with measurable outcomes 
Participating in ongoing team and program related meetings 
Other duties as required

Good organizational skills that reflect an attention to detail and ability to work to deadlines
Experience in organizing events or managing projects an asset
Proficiency with MS Office programs
Ability to take initiative and also work as part of a team
Demonstrated commitment to the goals of WWF-Canada
Available to work occasional evenings and weekends to attend events as required
An Ontario Driver’s License is required.
 

Other Information

This is a 6 month contract role based out of Toronto, commencing December 2, 2019, completing on May 31, 2019.
This role will require local travel to various events. In order to support the ability to transport supplies and travel to these events, a valid Ontario driver’s license is required for this role.

This position is funded through a grant from the Clean Foundation (in partnership with Environment and Climate Change Canada) that has the following requirements of the applicant:
Graduated from a post-secondary program in a STEM related field
No more than 30 years of age at the start of the internship (due to funding stipulations only)
Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person granted refugee status in Canada
Available to work for at least six months
Not currently employed as a paid employee at the host organization
Legally allowed to work according to the relevant provincial and Canadian legislation and regulations
Not receiving employment insurance during internship
