Intern, Kids’ Run for Nature

Position Description

The Community Giving department’s Intern, Kids’ Run for Nature will play an instrumental role in supporting the Kids’ Run for Nature (KRFN) program which seeks to engage Canadian youth and their families around wildlife conservation and inspire fundraising as an important part of conservation. They will engage, support and inspire event hosts, event participants/fundraisers, and volunteers by fostering a connection to WWF-Canada’s mission and conservation initiatives. This role will support the growth and success of the KRFN program and will have the opportunity to help shape and deliver on new strategies and initiatives. A diverse skill set is required to fulfill this position.
 

Key Responsibilities

Support event hosts (community co-ordinators) by providing regular updates and assistance wherever possible (including but not limited to site visits with panda mascot, poster distribution and outreach activities)
Assist with event logistics: securing park permits, insurance, event rentals and other site requirements
Assist the Associate Specialist, Community Campaigns with securing and distributing national event supplies (marketing materials, headbands, runner bibs, fundraising rewards, event signage, etc.)
Work cross functionally across the organization to support recruitment, fundraising, and engagement strategies via customer service, outreach and marketing initiatives
Support and document participant recruitment marketing efforts by reaching out to community centres, schools, running clubs and other relevant meet up groups in each event location
Assist with fundraising support and engagement with event participants and provide customer service via phone calls, managing mailings and monitoring the KRFN inbox
Work with the Associate Specialist, Human Resources to recruit and coordinate event day volunteers
Help the Coordinator, 3rd Party Events as needed with event day duties and post-event wrap up
Other duties as assigned  
 

What We Are Looking For

University Degree or College Diploma in fundraising management, marketing, or event management and 1-2 years of relevant experience 
Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines 
Positive attitude and able to work well with staff, volunteers, and external stakeholders
Valid driver’s licence considered an asset
Motivated self-starter who can work independently 
Experience in non-profit or public sector an asset
Proficient using Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Experience using Raisers Edge an asset 
Available to work evenings and weekends as needed
Understanding of conservation issues in Canada considered an asset
Previous office experience preferred
 

Other Information

This is a 6-month full-time contract position based in Toronto, commencing January 6, 2020. 
This internship will be paid.
