Google Maps strike out on foot
Recognizing that pedestrians often choose very different routes than drivers (who need to observe one-way street regulations, and worry less about hills) Google Maps has added an option that finds the straightest, flattest route from A to B for folks who prefer to make short trips by foot. The function works for excursions of up to 10 kilometers. Check out Google Lat Long Blog for a very good explanation of where to find it on the site and how it works.
