Get instant Earth Hour updates on your BlackBerry Smartphone
WWF-Canada has developed a new application for BlackBerry® smartphones to help people connect and share their experiences leading up to and during Earth Hour. Find out in real time what people have to say about Earth Hour, how people around the world are celebrating, and what people are doing to make every hour Earth Hour – all on your BlackBerry smartphone.
Earth Hour is Saturday, March 27 at 8:30 p.m. local time and encourages people to turn off their lights to show support for action on climate change. As lights go off around the world, the application will bring you global photos from the Sydney Opera House, to the Eiffel Tower, to the Lions Gate Bridge. Now, more than ever, Canadians can feel a part of the world’s largest environmental movement when they participate in Earth Hour.
“The goal of Earth Hour is to inspire the world to act together to help fight climate change,” says Gerald Butts, President and CEO, WWF-Canada. “The Earth Hour application will allow us to connect people around the world for Earth Hour via their BlackBerry smartphones, and we are proud to have created the application in Canada – a global leader in the campaign.”
The application also allows people to:
- Read what people around the world are saying about Earth Hour via Twitter feeds
- Sign-up for Earth Hour
- Count down the days and hours until Earth Hour
- View photos from around the globe
Download the application from your mobile phone at www.wwf.ca/ehapp or on BlackBerry App World™ (www.blackberry.com/appworld). Find out more about Earth Hour at www.EarthHourCanada.org.
