Conservation Director, Atlantic Region

Key Responsibilities:
Provide the leadership and direction to ensure that WWF’s conservation strategies and projects in the Northwest Atlantic Ecoregion (NWAE) are effectively designed and implemented. Project responsibilities are shared among Atlantic, National and Ottawa staff with support and guidance from WWF’s Atlantic Vice President.

• Lead the Atlantic Conservation Program and deliver project results.
• Ensure program planning is consistent with, and fully integrated into, WWF-Canada’s strategic direction.
• Manage WWF-Canada’s Atlantic conservation staff.
• Provide effective and timely program planning, budgeting, and reporting.
• Developing working relationships with government, academic institutions, industry and other non-government organizations on conservation priorities.
• Support the Atlantic Vice President, other senior staff and WWF’s Councils and Board, as required.

Formal qualifications, knowledge, experience:
• A Master’s degree, or equilivant training, with a specialization in a conservation related field (e.g. ecology, biology, geography, environmental science).
• Five to eight years of practical experience, with significant achievements, in conservation science, marine resource management or oceans policy are required.

• French language competency an asset.
