Compost for the Climate
When my municipality brought in a green bin system for collecting and composting organic waste I was delighted, as anything that makes it easier for people to do the right thing is a step forward. Over 90 percent of people who got bins used them (which blew the minds of the planners), which shows people will participate when a good program is available.
I now have access to a backyard, with a composter, so my partner won’t let me use the green bin anymore (she wants all the compost for the garden). I now face a dilemma, however, as a family of mice has discovered this wonderful food source. So I’m wondering if any master composters out there have some humane suggestions on how to convince them to move elsewhere and keep them out in the future?
Although a local stray cat seems intent on dealing with them in his own circle-of-life fashion…
