Building a bike-centric city: London puts the (bike) pedal to the metal

When I talk to most people about biking as a principal means of transportation, the big barrier is not feeling safe on the road. With good reason, because most places are designed for cars, with cyclists treated at best as moving hazards (I know there are some hazardous cyclists out there, but the infrastructure is definitely tilted in favour of the car).

Summing up his approach, London Mayor Ken Livingstone said “Londoners don’t have to reduce their quality of life to tackle climate change, but we do need to change the way we live.”

Amen to that.
