Position Description
The bilingual Associate Specialist, Outreach & Engagement works closely with various internal and external stakeholders to coordinate the expansion of the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup in Quebec and the Atlantic provinces through the Plastic Free to the Sea project. The goal of the project is to elevate the delivery of Shoreline Cleanup across the mega-region of the Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean, focusing on the removal of plastic and other litter from our freshwater lakes and waterways en route into the Atlantic coastal area. The call to action of Plastic Free to the Sea will mobilize municipalities, schools, campus, workplaces, and community groups to participate and register their support through an interactive website that tracks their results. The Associate Specialist will also support the delivery of other programs under Nature Connected Communities, such as Go Wild Community and Schools grants, within this geographic area as part of the Quebec team, with support from the Director for Quebec.
Key Responsibilities
- Increase participation in the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup through the Plastic Free to the Sea program by engaging with municipalities, schools and campuses, businesses, and community-led groups
- Coordinate Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup and Plastic Free to the Sea clean-ups with external partners, and generate results for inclusion on the Plastic Free to the Sea online interactive map
- Manage and complete all administrative tasks associated with the programs
- Support delivery of Go Wild Community Grants in Quebec by assisting with program promotion and administration
- Support expansion of the Living Planet @ School and Living Planet @ Campus programs in French speaking markets
- Keep abreast of related initiatives in other organizations and institutions, emerging trends in community-level work, and assist with identifying potential opportunities for partnership
What We Are Looking For
- Bilingual in French and English
- Post-secondary degree in a related discipline.
- 3-5 years relevant experience, including 2 years of experience in project management managing various high priority tasks simultaneously with multiple participants
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal skills with the ability to communicate the mission of WWF Canada and ability to motivate others in a variety of settings.
- Imaginative and proactive in developing programs and relationships.
- Good organizational skills that reflect an attention to detail and ability to work to deadlines.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with others on program development and implementation.
- Be passionately committed to the mission and objectives of WWF-Canada and to its success in accomplishing these.
Other Information
This is a one-year contract position based out of Montreal
This role will require local travel to various community events. In order to support the ability to transport supplies and travel to these events, a valid Quebec driver’s license is a requirement of this role.
