My first year at WWF

I also realized just how much I’ve learned, often about things I never thought I’d know, like:

  1. Where to find a yeti suit that will fit a 6’8” football player
  2. The global potential of renewable, sustainable energy to change our world and our planet
  3. The differences between the various certification systems for sustainable seafood
  4. How thrilling it is to know that millions of Canadians are participating in WWF’s Earth Hour
  5. That the average Canadian’s lifestyle requires the resources of four Earths each year
  6. How many cigarette butts people leave on our shorelines
  7. What a lot of work it is to put on a fashion show, as we did for National Sweater Day
  8. What “environmental flow” means
  9. How much a polar bear tracking collar weighs (yes, I tried one on out of curiosity)
  10. What it feels like to kiss a beluga (courtesy of our friends at Vancouver Aquarium)

My first year at WWF has been incredibly rewarding.  It’s great to know that, as a non-scientist, I can still contribute to WWF’s mission.  And it’s even better to work with the outstanding team we have across Canada and around the world.  I can’t wait to see what my second year brings!
