This holiday season, WWF is introducing six new species, as well as three frontline hero dolls for you to adopt and take home.
Frontline workers such as marine biologists, wildlife rangers and polar researchers are important in order to support WWF’s conservation efforts around the world. Let’s learn more about the work of a polar researcher.

A day in the life of a polar researcher could include:

  • Tracking polar bears, narwhals and Greenland sharks.
  • Predicting what will happen with shrinking sea ice and what it will mean to Arctic species that depend on ice for survival.
  • Mapping possible oil spills to help decision makers determine whether or not to allow companies to drill for oil and gas.
  • Working together with Inuit communities to help manage important ecosystems, like the Last Ice Area, the only Arctic region expected to keep its summer sea ice until 2050.
