Announcing the newest Green CommUnity School Grant winners!

Hand-picked from 233 applications submitted from coast to coast to coast, WWF-Canada is excited to reveal the newest 27 schools that will receive funds to make their green ideas grow!
Depending on the scope of the proposed project, each of the winning schools will receive up to $5,000 to implement their green idea by May 2014.

A handful of the winning ideas from this latest round of granting include:

  • Introducing six 400-litre rain barrels into the existing school garden at Auburn Drive HS in Dartmouth, NS
  • Designing a Monarch butterfly garden to cultivate a love of nature in students at Marius Barbeau ES in Ottawa, ON
  • Clearing outdoor classroom spaces throughout 40 acres of forest near Banded Peak School in Bragg Creek, MB

Thanks to the generous support of Loblaw Companies Limited, the Green CommUnity School Grant program has distributed over $600,000 to schools — supporting over 200 projects — since 2010. Ranging from honeybee habitats to an eco-podcast radio station and everything in between, the innovative and educational projects these grants support demonstrate how we can all have a positive impact on our environment when we work together.
