WWF’s Living Planet @ Work Award Highlights Employee Champions
TORONTO – WWF congratulates the winners of the second annual Living Planet @ Work Awards. The awards recognize leading individuals and companies in WWF’s Living Planet @ Work program, championed by HP, helping address conservation challenges by engaging employees in a range of businesses.
WWF’s Living Planet @ Work 2013 award winners:
Champions of the Year
Jeannie White, Symcor
White has been an engaged green champion in the work place since 2011. She helped to spearhead an annual Eco Fair and WWF campaigns including National Sweater day and Earth Hour, educating employees about energy conservation.
Alan Forbes, Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, Casino Thunder Bay
Forbes helped to develop a comprehensive waste and recycling process of OLG’s Casino Thunder Bay site, which includes the establishment of an annual internal waste audit.
Green Team of the Year
Greening Government Implementation Team, Alberta Infrastructure
The team has led organizational support for multiple WWF campaigns and established a Green rewards and recognition program encouraging staff to acknowledge fellow Infrastructure staff for their green behaviors or contributions to ‘Greening Government’ initiatives.
Workplace of the Year
The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise
The Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise has been active in all three pillars of the Living Planet @ Work pledge: footprint reduction, participation in WWF campaigns and fundraising.
Fundraiser of the Year
Sears Canada
Sears Canada has raised over $23,000 for WWF’s conservation work in the last year, through the annual Canada Life CN Tower Climb and other charitable giving initiatives.
Winner of HP’s 2013 Change the Equation Sustainability Reporting Contest
Ontario Power Authority
The Ontario Power Authority submitted the winning sustainability report in this year’s HP Change the Equation contest. The report covers the OPA’s efforts to reduce waste, paper use and electricity consumption as well as actions to procure more environmentally responsible office supplies and increase employee engagement.
