WWF Celebrates Canadian Environmental Leadership with 4th Annual Panda Ball in Toronto

TORONTO, ONTARIO – WWF-Canada is delighted to have the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, the Honourable Elizabeth Dowdeswell, attending the conservation organization’s fourth annual fundraising gala on Friday, October 24th. This will be the first formal ball for Her Honour since being installed as the new Lieutenant Governor.

This year’s Panda Ball gala will honour High Liner Foods and its CEO, Henry E. Demone, as this year’s Partner in Conservation award recipient. Over the last decade, High Liner has worked with WWF-Canada to promote sustainable livelihoods and safeguard the future of our oceans. Its commitment to ocean sustainability resulted in a market-leading pledge to source its wild-caught seafood in accordance with the Marine Stewardship Council, which sets rigorous international fishing standards.

With this year’s event highlighting successes in ocean conservation, WWF is pleased to have Alex and Tyler Mifflin, hosts of The Water Brothers, as the evening’s special guest speakers. Adding to the evening’s excitement is the Alan Doyle Trio, featuring the music of Great Big Sea, as well as Jully Black, Juno award winner and Canada’s queen of R&B, as master of ceremonies.

The Panda Ball will bring together members from the philanthropic and business communities across Canada who are leading the next generation of conservation. The sold-out event will highlight the important environmental issues WWF is tackling in Canada and the vision for a sustainable future: vibrant oceans, healthy rivers and helping to secure a healthy Arctic.

The evening will conclude with a thrilling live auction of exclusive items such as an original artwork from renowned Canadian artist Charles Pachter and a first-class VIA Rail cross-Canada round trip for two.

WWF thanks the Royal Bank of Canada for their continued generosity as presenting sponsor.
