WWF celebrates Canadian environmental leadership with 3rd annual Panda Ball in Toronto
TORONTO, ONTARIO – WWF’s third annual fundraising gala, to take place on Friday, October 18th, will honor Michael de Pencier, this year’s Leader for Conservation recipient.
De Pencier is the co-founder of Investeco Capital Corporation, Canada’s first environmental investment management company, and served on WWF-Canada’s Board of Directors from 1997 to 2005.
David Miller, who recently joined WWF-Canada as their new President and CEO in September, will be attending his first Panda Ball. Adding to this year’s excitement is special guest Commander Chris Hadfield as well as musical performances by young breakout star Carly Rose Sonenclar and Canadian singer/songwriter Steven Page. Page also previously served as a WWF board member.
The Panda Ball will showcase WWF’s achievements in conservation and bring together members from philanthropic and business communities who are leading the next generation of conservation. The sold-out event will highlight the important environmental issues WWF is tackling in Canada and the vision for a sustainable future: vibrant oceans, healthy rivers and an Arctic protected and adapting to climate change.
The evening will conclude with a thrilling live auction of exclusive items such as a limited-edition print from famed photographer Edward Burtynsky and an Arctic adventure to northern Manitoba for behind-the-scenes access to a documentary film shoot.
WWF thanks the Royal Bank of Canada for their generosity as presenting sponsor and Goldcorp Inc. as gold sponsor.
