Volunteers needed: Shoreline Cleanup at the Fireworks – Vancouver

Calling all Vancouver Volunteers for a Shoreline Cleanup at the Fireworks!
Have you ever gone to the annual fireworks competition and wondered what you can do to help keep our shorelines cleaner? This year, we’re working with the organizers of the Celebration of Lights to help keep our shorelines cleaner. We’re putting together three 50-person Shoreline Cleanup teams, one for each night of the fireworks. Each Shoreline Cleanup team will consist of 3-4 Cleanup Volunteers and 1 Cleanup Lead. We will be collecting data on everything that we find and collect over a 2-hour time period at Sunset Beach and English Bay. We’ll be weighing and tallying up all the different litter items we find during that time. This is also a great opportunity for us to be engaging with the general public to remind them of why it is important to keep our shorelines clean, to pack out their own garbage, and promote the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup.

Roles & Experience Required:
Cleanup Lead — help collect and tally the data and promote the program during the cleanup time, best to have held your own Shoreline Cleanup as a site coordinator or have been part of a Shoreline Cleanup in the past
Cleanup Volunteer — no experience necessary, you will be helping collect shoreline litter and document everything you find. For every team of 4-5 Cleanup Volunteers, there will be one Cleanup Lead in-charge of the team
