Urban Zucchini

There are many benefits to growing your own food, which are becoming more compelling with the rising price of gas and energy costs. These benefits include being able to control what is or more likely isn’t sprayed on your food, how fresh it tastes because your homegrown veggies are not shipped 3,000 km, and saving money!

One of the main misconceptions of growing vegetables is that you need a lot of space and that city life doesn’t offer that. Don’t get me wrong, I would love a huge backyard garden filled with every thing my heart desires, but I beg to differ that you need a lot of space!

Here is my little patio garden that is starting to give me zucchini, basil, peppers and squash. I know, zucchini in the city? I kind of secretly thought it would taste like how I imagine smog tastes, but I assure you that it’s sweet and crisp and delicious!

Send me your pictures of your veggie garden small or big, and I’ll post them to show how you’re living The Good Life by creating value in your food!
