Torontonians turnout in record numbers for Canada Life (TM) CN Tower climb for World Wildlife Fund Canada

“We’re really grateful first and foremost to the climbers for showing up, to our sponsors, Canada Life (TM) and the CN Tower and, to all the media people who helped spread the word about this event,” said Monte Hummel, president of WWF-Canada.

A record number of teams also registered for a separate team climb on Thursday. Combined, the two events raised more than $500,000. WWF-Canada is a registered charitable organization, supported by 60,000 Canadians from coast to coast. The Canada Life Assurance Company, Canada’s first domestic life insurance company, was founded in 1847.

Defining the Toronto skyline, the CN Tower is Canada’s most recognizable and celebrated icon. At a height of 553.33 metres (1,815 feet, 5 inches), it is the World’s Tallest Building, a Wonder of the Modern World, an important telecommunications hub, and the centre of tourism in Toronto. Each year, two million people visit Canada’s Wonder of the World to take in the breathtaking view and enjoy all the CN Tower has to offer.
