This decade is the warmest on record
“We are in a warming trend – we have no doubt about it,” said WMO secretary-general Michel Jarraud. The WMO did note, however, that the U.S. and Canada experienced conditions that were cooler than average, while large parts of southern Asia and central Africa are likely to have the warmest year on record.
If average global temperatures increase more than 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial temperatures, there is a risk that this could trigger a series of tipping points in the climate that would have severe impacts for people around the world and in Canada.
