Senior Manager, Skeena

Position Description

The Senior Manager, Skeena is a highly motivated and organized individual able to manage people and projects. The role requires working with a cross section of organizations and individuals both within the organization and across the region.  The individual has significant leadership experience and can work with a team to ensure the program achieves measurable conservation results consistent with WWF-Canada’s ambitious strategic plan goals in the Skeena region. 

This role will be responsible for liaising and cooperating with conservation leads in other programs, particularly the Vice President, Oceans. It also requires providing oversight on monitoring and reporting on all Skeena program results. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with the Vice President, Freshwater and Vice President, Oceans to deliver conservation and community based results in the Skeena Region and BC North coast.
  • Lead project work, program development, and communication in the region.
  • Foster relationships and partnerships with First Nations in the region.
  • Foster relationships and partnerships with organizations and Governments in the region. 
  • Manage program budget and provide oversight on monitoring and reporting on program results in the region.
  • Integrate benefits for communities, marine species and freshwater habitats into project design.
  • Strengthen and enhance relationships with partners, including First Nations communities, essential to program implementation.
  • Track and report on progress according to WWF-Canada’s operational protocols.
  • Participate in the development of work plans and annual plans.
  • Ensure that WWF-Canada’s relevant positions, views and achievements are effectively and accurately communicated to key stakeholders.
  • Represent WWF-Canada at meetings, conferences, workshops, and conduct public outreach in coordination with appropriate Communications staff.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field plus at least 10 years related experience.
  • Deep understanding of regional, provincial, and national issues related to WWF-Canada’s mission.
  • Strong commitment to WWF-Canada’s focus on demonstrating that it’s possible to build long-lasting conservation results which benefit communities.
  • Deep knowledge of ecosystem concepts, CEAA, SARA
  • Experience managing teams towards results-based measurable outcomes.
  • Proven experience of effective collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams as well as with multi-stakeholder groups, nationally and regionally.
  • Ability to build respect and trust in communities.
  • Strong problem-solving, creative interpersonal and strategic thinking capabilities.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communications skills

Other Information

This role may require regional travel with limited national travel.
