School of Environmental Design: Students starting to implement ‘green’ fun!

Liisa Mountain has been instrumental in communicating to the whole school about the various sustainable initiatives introduced. She has dedicated a spot on her website for The Good Life, where she provides more information about what is happening. You can check it out athttp://www.lalines.ca/wwfcanadaandsedrd.htm. As the co-president of the student society, Kelsey Hurlbut has been checking out community days to plant trees and how to integrate FSC certified paper (wood that comes from certified, well managed forests) into the paper supply for all of the student projects and printers. Danielle Davis is one of the event coordinators, where she organizes speakers, parties and fun activities for the whole school. She is coming up with ways to green these events by promoting that students bring their own mugs to parties, buying in bulk for events and introducing biodegradable plates and cutlery.

Around the school green signage is sprouting up reminding people to turn off the computers when they are done using them, and turning off the lights when they leave the rooms. Check out some of the photos below and if you like the computer sign in the photo, Click here to get it!

I’ll post another entry about SEDRD after their annual Halloween party, which promises to have as minimal environmental impact as possible!
