Reception and Clerical Assistant Volunteer

Where: WWF-Canada’s Toronto Office (245 Eglinton Ave. East, Toronto)
When: Starting early September 2012 with a minimum 6 month commitment
Shifts: Mondays 10am-2pm, Tuesdays 1-5pm, Thursdays 10am-2pm or Fridays 10am-2pm. 

The Donor Relations & Services department is responsible for deepening engagement with WWF-Canada’s supporters by providing exceptional customer service. Volunteers work individually or in groups to maintain positive donor relations and aid donor retention through strategic customer service support, database management and gift administration. Customer service plays an essential role within WWF-Canada and our volunteers are an important part of the team. The Donor Relations & Services volunteer positions can be beneficial to recent graduates of environmental and non-profit programs. We provide volunteers with training, skill development and career advice in return for your hard work and dedication to our department’s projects.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet visitors to WWF-Canada’s office in a friendly, courteous manner and efficiently handle their requests
  • Provide prompt, professional response to all inbound calls and direct calls to the correct person/department
  • Administer out-bound tax receipts, acknowledgment letters, welcome kits and information packages to our donors
  • Provide quality control on outgoing donor mail, use the folding/inserting machine, use the mail postage machine.
  • Accept all inbound mail and couriers as necessary
  • Make outbound calls to donors with donation related issues
  • Enter and update donor information into the Raiser’s Edge database as needed
  • Assist with internet research and administrative projects as needed

Experience and Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service with experience making outbound telephone calls considered an asset
  • Excellent phone manner and professional disposition
  • Previous clerical or administrative experience in an office environment preferred
  • Strong attention to detail with a regard for quality and precision
  • Highly organized with an aptitude for performing repetitive tasks
  • Proven ability to carry out multi-step instructions accurately
  • Working knowledge of Windows-based computer systems and Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word). Experience using Raiser’s Edge is an asset. 
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills are essential
  • Post-secondary education preferred
