Program Operations Volunteer

Where: WWF-Canada’s Toronto Office (245 Eglinton Ave. East, Toronto)
When: Starting mid-March with a minimum 4 month commitment
Shifts: 8-10 hours/week with flexibility within Monday-Friday 9am-5pm.

Purpose: To assist Program Operations Team with the task of populating the WWF-International projects database – INSIGHT – with information about each WWF-Canada project, including alignment with the global program framework (GPF).

Impact: The outcome of this project will be an accessible, online written description for every current WWF conservation project, which will enable:

  • WWF-Canada to meet network requirements for project data submission to INSIGHT, specifically information about network-funded projects and WWF-Canada project alignment with the Global Program Framework;
  • Timely access by staff to current project information, which is expected to reduce the demand on project staff to provide standard project information on an ad hoc basis

Responsibilities:

  • Under the supervision of Program Operations staff, develop associated project and work plans
  • Consult with identified staff to identify and gather existing project descriptions and/or useful inputs (e.g. website information, proposals, etc.)
  • Draft a written description for each current project in the approved format
  • Circulate draft descriptions for comment, make edits and secure approval of final descriptions
  • Load data to INSIGHT

Experience and Skills:

  • Superior written and verbal English communication skills are essential
  • Demonstrated ability to research and integrate information from various sources (e.g. websites, project files)
  • Ability to edit and standardize language in written documents to ensure consistency in outputs
  • Project management expertise; proven ability to organize tasks and track progress
  • Familiarity with conservation issues and terminology
  • Post-secondary education in conservation-related disclipine preferred
  • Working knowledge of Windows-based computer systems and Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word)

  • Highly organized with an aptitude for project management
  • Strong attention to detail with a regard for quality and precision
  • Keen learner with a strong interest in environment conservation and a passion for creating positive change
