Make love, not CO2
A similar vote is happening in Europe but on a much more aggressive package of renewable energy and energy efficiency requirements. WWF campaigners in Europe are asking their Parliamentarians to leave a little love-note for the planet, and suggest that any ministers planning to vote for anything less than strong targets should stay tucked in bed.
Armed with the petitions and a big box of chocolates, the ever-friendly panda and
WWF-Canada hope that the Valentine’s Day sentiment and this delivery will help Parliamentarians put aside their differences and start acting responsibly together to implement solutions to global warming.
“Canadians are saying loud and clear: stop the political bickering and get started on the practical action to reduce fossil fuel pollution”, said Julia Langer, Director of WWF-Canada’s Global Threats program. “The science is also crystal clear: the longer we delay reducing emissions the tougher it will be to avoid dangerous warming. One thing is for sure – we will never meet our targets if we don’t try.”
