Dropping Science crew uses beats and rhymes as vehicle for learning
It was so refreshing to see a group of people committed to spreading the word about the joys of learning about our world through science, and in a super entertaining and approachable manner! The crowd was really enjoying it, and at one point we really were ‘wavin’ our hands like we just didn’t care’, which I never thought I would do at a festival in small town Ontario- boy was I wrong!
The three members include, Ryan Berry also known as 50%, Rob Macleod = MC², and Lennie McLeod or Scientific Method Man. These three long-time friends hailing from the Southern Ontario community of Bruce County created a motto for their group: S.T.E.P. which stands for SCIENCE, TRUTH, EDUCATION AND POSITIVITY. They’ve only been at this for about a year, and have already found that there is a need for this music. 50% (Ryan) sees the value in connecting with people through encouraging music, “the positive message alone is something that I think everyone can understand and connect with….and also something I think humanity is in desperate need. That’s how we can all do our part and make some progress as a species. It’s kind of like ‘Back to the basics’ in a way.’ If you want to learn more about Dropping Science, visit their MySpace page, www.myspace.com/droppingsciencealliance
